Position Summary
The Prefabrication Engineer plays a key role in preparing security system equipment for deployment. This position is responsible for configuring, documenting, and prefabricating IPbased security technologies—including cameras, access control hardware, intrusion detection devices, and networking components. The engineer ensures equipment is accurately programmed, labeled, and ready for efficient field installation. This role also collaborates closely with project managers and service teams and may contribute to occasional onsite installation or service support.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure and preprogram IP cameras, including firmware updates and mounting preparation.
- Document device information—including IP addresses, MAC addresses, and naming conventions—within project documentation platforms.
- Document and support the following equipment types:IP cameras
- Access control boards
- Wireless intrusion devices
- Network antennas
- Network communicators
- Load and wire access control boards into appropriate power supplies.
- Prefabricate, organize, and label all security system components before shipment.
- Assist project managers in developing accurate system documentation.
- Program and document network communicators for intrusion systems.
- Create monitoring accounts and enter required project information.
- Program control panel keypads and wireless devices.
- Support remote project programming and servicerelated technical tasks.
- Provide onsite assistance for service calls or installations as needed.
- Produce and apply labels for all devices and mounting hardware to ensure proper field identification.
- Prepare materials and packages for shipment following successful configuration and prefabrication.
- Perform additional responsibilities as needed; duties may evolve over time.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in security systems, lowvoltage electrical work, or a related technical discipline.
- Familiarity with IPbased security technologies (cameras, access control, intrusion systems, etc.).
- Experience with system configuration tools and documentation platforms.
- Strong understanding of network devices and protocols.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and wiring documentation.
- High attention to detail with strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Able to work independently while also collaborating effectively across teams.
- Willingness to support fieldwork or installation activities as needed.
