Role Description The Surveillance Investigator is responsible for conducting discreet field and remote surveillance to gather factual information for client cases. Day-to-day tasks include planning and executing surveillance operations, maintaining detailed and accurate case notes, capturing high-quality video and photographic evidence, and preparing concise investigative reports. The role also involves conducting basic online research, verifying information, adhering to legal and ethical standards, and communicating updates to supervisors or case managers. This is a full-time remote role, requiring reliable availability, self-management, and the ability to work independently while meeting case deadlines and performance expectations.
Qualifications
- Strong observational, analytical, and critical thinking skills to conduct effective surveillance and assess situational details.
- Proficiency with video, photography, and basic computer tools (including email, word processing, and online research platforms).
- Excellent written communication skills for drafting clear, objective, and organized investigative reports.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage time effectively, and handle multiple case assignments.
- Knowledge of legal and ethical standards related to surveillance and investigations, with a commitment to confidentiality and compliance.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation (if field work is required), and willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
- Prior experience in private investigations, law enforcement, security, or related fields is preferred but not required.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certification in criminal justice, investigations, or related disciplines is a plus.
