We are seeking an experienced Physical Security Systems Technician with a strong background in Avigilon Access Control Manager (ACM) / Avigilon Unity and Mercury controller boards. This role will be responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting enterprise access control systems across multiple facilities.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with access control hardware, low-voltage wiring, door hardware, badge management, controller programming, and physical security system integrations.
Key Responsibilities
Access Control Administration & Support
- Install, configure, maintain, and support Avigilon Access Control Manager (ACM) and Avigilon Unity environments.
- Configure and troubleshoot Mercury intelligent controllers, expansion modules, and field devices.
- Manage badge access, cardholder records, schedules, permissions, and system reporting.
- Support physical security infrastructure, including: Door controllers
- Card readers
- Request-to-exit devices
- Electric strikes
- Magnetic locks
- Door position switches
- Intercom systems
- Perform firmware updates, software upgrades, and system health monitoring.
- Create and maintain system documentation, diagrams, and standards.
Installation & Maintenance
- Install and terminate low-voltage cabling associated with access control and security systems.
- Diagnose and repair controller, reader, network, and door hardware issues.
- Perform testing and validation of field wiring using meters, cable testers, probes, and diagnostic tools.
- Coordinate system installations, upgrades, and facility expansions.
- Support integration efforts with video surveillance and other physical security technologies.
Troubleshooting & Technical Support
- Serve as the escalation point for complex access control issues.
- Investigate communication failures between Mercury controllers and host systems.
- Troubleshoot network connectivity, power distribution, and device communication issues.
- Work with vendors and security integrators to resolve hardware and software issues.
- Provide training to end users on badge administration and access management functions.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience supporting enterprise access control systems.
- Hands-on experience with Avigilon Access Control Manager (ACM) and/or Avigilon Unity.
- Experience installing, programming, and troubleshooting Mercury controller boards.
- Strong understanding of: Wiegand and OSDP protocols
- Door hardware and locking systems
- Low-voltage wiring
- Access control architecture
- Experience working with Active Directory and user provisioning.
- Ability to read system schematics, wiring diagrams, and construction drawings.
- Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Avigilon Video Management Software (VMS).
- Experience supporting Verkada, Genetec, LenelS2, Software House CCURE, or similar systems.
- Knowledge of IP networking, VLANs, switches, and TCP/IP communications.
- Industry certifications related to physical security, access control, or networking.
- Experience working in enterprise or multi-site environments.
